Covid-19 Studio Procedures

Important Information

Face Masks

We are following the most recently issued Executive Order 79 regarding face masks.

Water

Our water fountains will be now be open; HOWEVER students will need to bring their own water bottle to fill as we are not allowing students to drink directly from the fountain.  Students bringing a water bottle with them will need to ensure tops are secure with first and last names clearly presented on them to prevent any mixing of bottles.

Hand Sanitizer + Soap

We will have hand sanitizer at our check-in entry and in each studio. Students may bring hand sanitizer in their dance bags to utilize. Hand soap and paper towels will be in each bathroom. Please go over hand-washing skills with your children.

CDC: Wash You Hands Fact Sheet 508

Lobby + Bathroom

Our lobby and bathrooms are currently closed to patrons. ONLY students and staff members will be allowed access to these areas.

Back Office

Our back office is currently off-limits to ALL students. Each student that enters will ONLY be allowed entry to their classroom and, of course, the restroom; if needed.

Dance Bags

Dance bags can no longer be stored at the dance studio. Please make sure your child’s dance bag is labeled with their name. All bags will enter and exit each class with students. Bags are required for each class (even if they do not have a shoe change). We are requiring bags to keep student’s items contained to their designated area.

Shoes

Students will enter and exit the dance studio in their street shoes. Unfortunately, our donation bin is closed at this time for borrowing/trading shoes. See In Class Procedures for how we will be handling shoe changes.

Attire

Please make sure your child arrives in their dance attire with their hair pulled back neatly in a ponytail or bun (for our ladies) and out of the face (for our gentlemen). Students will not be allowed to change in the building during this time.

Class Sizes

All class sizes will follow social distancing guidelines. The floors will be marked to assist with this, too.

Cell Phones

Students may bring their cell phones into the studio with them. However, they are to remain in their dance bags on silent.

Emergency Contact

We require an emergency contact for ALL students. If your child enters and advises us that they don’t feel well after classes have started, the emergency contact will be immediately called to pick up the student. We will utilize the back office area for children who are not feeling well and awaiting pick up from their emergency contact. This area will be sanitized immediately after the child departs.

Check-in Procedures

  • You will see a studio representative at the front door that will be checking in all students.
  • A sign with the name of your child’s class will be presented at the entry-way once they are being accepted for the check-in process. Please remain in your car until you see your child’s class sign.
  • There will be clear markers in front of the dance studio with a place for dancers and one parent to stand with them.
  • At this time, all children under the age of 16 will be REQUIRED to check-in with an adult. Do NOT leave your child until they have cleared the screening process. If the screening process is failed, an adult would need to be present to take the child back home. Once they are in the studio, they have passed the screening, and you may run errands, etc; if needed.
  • Please take a moment before you leave your home to go through the screening questions and temperature check before leaving for the studio. If the student is not feeling well, please stay home. (See below for screening questions and temperature requirements.)
  • Students should be in proper attire for class with their hair done.

  • Street shoes are to remain on the student’s feet upon entry into the studio. Please do not put dance shoes on your child. (See “In Class Procedures” for how we are handling.)
  • We will take the student’s temperature.
    • If the temperature is above 100° F, the student will not be allowed to enter.

We will ask the following questions:

Have you experienced or are you experiencing symptoms such as fever, dry cough, shortness of breath, chills, muscle pain, sore throat, headache, or loss of taste/smell in the last 14 days?

If so, you will not be allowed to enter without being symptom free for 14 days.

Have you been in contact or close contact with someone who exhibited symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, dry cough, shortness of breath) in the last 14 days?

If so, we are asking that you self-quarantine for 14 days from exposure.

IF YOU PLAN TO TRAVEL

If you plan to travel, please contact us to let us know. Travelers are not required to quarantine and will not be quarantined under a legal order. However, the Virginia Department of Health urges people to avoid non-essential travel to slow the spread of COVID-19. If you must travel, VDH recommends that travelers entering the state or returning home from travel outside the state self-quarantine for at least 7 days after travel.
